Research Philosophy

'Chemistry and Biotechnology' is a new discipline established from the fusion of chemistry and life science within the School of Engineering.

The overreaching goal of the faculty, students, and all researchers in our department is to create new compounds and molecular functions utilizing the power of organic chemistry and biotechnology.

Life science provides good models for chemists to create novel compounds and materials that will address global and social issues in ecology, energy, and health.

Using chemistry as a tool, bioscientists can reveal complicated biological mechanisms and create superproteins and artificial biological systems that are applicable to medical science.

Our educational mission is to train students to pursue and achieve new high-impact concepts in the areas of chemistry and life science. We also provide a wide range of curriculums from chemistry to biotechnology on the basis of "molecule" as a common theme.
