Recent progress of molecular cell biology has been revealing structures and functions of various biomolecules.Based on hot biological findings, we aim to apply functions of cell and biomolecules to various engineering fields using techniques, which includes protein engineering, genetic engineering and organic synthesis.

■Controlling cell fate using chimeric receptors :
Ligand-binding domain of cytokine receptors is replaced with antibody variable regions, aiming at a system to control cellular fate in response to a cognate antigen.

■Regulating the functions of biomolecules with synthetic small molecules :
Our research aims to develop chemical tools for regulating the functions of biomolecules in vivo by modifying peptides or nucleotides with stimuli-responsive small molecules.

■Regulation and analysis of cellular functions with biocompatible anchor for membrane (BAM) :
Anchoring molecules for biomembrane are applied to activation of cell-mediated immunity and cell micro-patterning /micro-printing for cell engineering and tissue engineering.

■Nano-scaled protein engineering :
We design and create non-natural functional proteins/enzymes using nanometre-scaled protein engineering and enzyme engineering.
